at the NAVSEA Wounded Warrior Capital Area Conference. The Naval
Sea Systems Command ( NAVSEA ) hosted the first Wounded Warrior
Conference in the Naval District Washington in 2010. The Veterans
Individual Training Assistance Link (VITAL®)
was invited to participate in that ASN (M&RA) sponsored
Wounded Warrior Conference hosted by NAVSEA. VITAL ® was
initially developed for Commander, Navy Installations Command
(CNIC) to transition recovering Service members into civilian
employment within CNIC's IT department (Code N6). The photo
shows VITAL® Students, their Mentors & Coaches with
the CNIC CIO, N-6.

HOW
VITAL RECRUITED
Active Duty recovering-service-members
were referred by Professionals at the Military Treatment Facilities
VITAL® was an employment program for Recovering Service
Members interested in staying in the military or joining the
DOD Civil Service workforce.
VITAL® matched interested job applicants with a career coach
to guide them through the training process.
VITAL® provided Recovering Service Members the opportunity
to grow in a career of choice. Career progression was clearly
mapped out from entry level to mid-level to senior level.
VITAL® focused on the Recovering
Service Members. Accommodations were made to ensure a smooth
transition to Civil Service employment.
