The Naval Sea Systems
Command (NAVSEA) successfully completed the VITAL prototype
program with Careers in Contracting in FY11. NAVSEA headquarters
provided contract specialists as Tutors at the National
Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD to provide custom training
for Wounded Warriors interested in careers in contracting.

VITAL Career Coaches worked
with the Wounded Warriors to provide educational assistance
and arrange experiential learning opportunities. VITAL also
provided placement assistance when the participants were
medically retired from the military. VITAL participants
have been placed in jobs and experiential learning assignments
at NAVSEA, the Executive Office of the President (EOP),
and the Veterans Administration's Acquisition Academy (http://www.acquisitionacademy.va.gov/).
The Department of Navy
currently offers training positions for those interested
in careers in contracting through their Acquisitions
Intern and Associates programs.
